Welcome to The Guild Literary Complex. The Guild Literary Complex, a community-based literary organization, presents and supports diverse, divergent, and emerging voices through innovative programs including performances and readings. We look at literary culture and ask – what’s missing? Proud of the traditions of literary excellence and community-based events established by Guild Books, the Guild Complex has carried on this legacy through our provocative, eclectic and stimulating programs for nearly 20 years. Along with its current ongoing programs (see menu at top), the Guild's past programs have included The International Writers Exchange, Muslim Women Writers, The Wind Shifts: New Latino Poetry national tour, Andrés Montoya and Cave Canem Literary Prizes and cohort residencies, other author events and special programs. Since its formation, the Guild Complex has established itself, in the words of the Illinois Arts Council, as Chicago's premiere literary center. The Complex has twice been selected as a model literary center by the National Endowment for the Arts.
