Guild Literary Complex

February is a winter month of storms (check), sub-zero temperatures (check), and gray skies (check).

While the Guild doesn’t control the weather, every month we program events that bring people together to celebrate diverse, divergent, and emerging voices. And that’s hot—regardless of the season.

The 10th year of Palabra Pura continues on February 18 with Urban Realities / Realidades urbanas. Featuring Luis Tubens and students from Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos High School, poems and stories will explore the urban realities that affect the daily lives and future destinies of those who make Chicago their home.

And on February 25 we’ll begin celebrating our 25 Writers to Watch with three of them participating in Uncharted, a night of stories on adventure, wandering, crossing boundaries, and more. Featured readers include Eric Charles May, Coya Paz, and Kathleen Rooney.

The Guild doesn’t pass judgment on cold weather. We are aware, however, that in February you might need a little extra warmth. Find it with us. Be embraced.
