Guild Literary Complex

In partnership with Guild Literary Complex and with the support of Healing Illinois, NON:op announces a call for proposals for commissioned responses to SAY THEIR NAMES. The commission is for two to three poet/composer teams to create new work that responds to individual cases, groups of cases, the map, or the entire project.

The application opens on January 15 with a deadline of March 7. Commissions will be publicly announced at the March 29 SAY THEIR NAMES Salon and will be presented in a concert in the fall of 2025. Selected commissions will receive $1,000 for an original work.

With support from the Field Foundation, NON:op will publicly launch a new SAY THEIR NAMES interactive map and database memorializing Black Americans killed by law enforcement over the last 10 years. Please join us on May 21 at 11:00 am at Experimental Station for this important event. Ronald Browne, lead researcher, and Saba Ayman-Nolley, project coordinator, will introduce the project, the methodologies, and how you can engage with the interactive map.
