Guild Literary Complex

Happy new year to you! All of us at the Guild wish you a happy, healthy, and productive 2015.

For our part, we’ll work on “productive” with a January party to celebrate 10 years of Palabra Pura. This energetic and lively series continues to support and showcase emerging and established authors in the Latino and Chicano community, both here in Chicago and nationally. For the party we’ll have cake (of course), but more importantly no less than 15 authors will be joining us to read a poem or micro story and 2015 curators will join us to talk about their plans for the coming months.

Production continues to roll with our regular podcast series “GuildCast.” You can catch the latest episode by clicking over to our SoundCloud site. There, listen to Debbie Carlson interview Booklist’s Donna Seaman about her favorite 2014 books (do you have catching up to do, too?) and 2015 books she’s excited about. After that, enjoy past episodes with Jonathan Eig, Valeria Luiselli, Stuart Dybek, Cristina Henríquez, and more.

All of our 2015 production is made possible in large part thanks to the many supporters contributing to our annual appeal in 2014. We surpassed our original goal of $10,000 and reached $11,983! Wow! It was the single most successful fundraising drive in the Guild’s 25-year history (well, as far back as we can remember). Thank you to everyone who contributed to keep the Guild strong. And if you still wish to support the Guild, either by donating or volunteering, click here to learn how.

Now, don’t be fooled. While we only have one January event, 2015 is going to have some major activities. We have over 30 events planned for the year, with regular programs and many special events. Stay tuned to learn more. And if you haven’t already, subscribe to our email news so you can know our happenings early and often.
