John has been involved with Chicago arts organizations for many years serving as company manager for acclaimed performance groups Goat Island and Every house has a door, as a founding member of the Chicago Writers House, and as the visionary organizer behind the popular Chicago Book Expo. He is a recipient of the Vaclav Havel Fellowship in Playwriting from Western Michigan University and a Ragdale Foundation residency in writing.
