Honoring the life and work of the legendary poet with annual events like BrooksDay and the Gwendolyn Brooks Open Mic Awards (GBOMA).

TRANS
VENGENCE

A program highlighting voices from Chicago’s trans community, featuring an open mic and hosted by trans writer and artist Joss Barton.

PALABRA PURA

A program celebrating Spanish-speaking writers, poets, and performers through open mics, featured readings, and performances. Now expanding internationally to the Afro-Latinx diaspora in Quibdo, Colombia, as part of the Book Fair: Quibdo Feria del Libro.

EXHIBIT B

A collaborative experimental performance series showcasing accessible, multimodal art by diverse, community-conscious artists in Chicago and beyond. Featured at Printers Row Lit Fest and expanding to New York City.
